This project consisted of the renovation of the existing Applefields School which provides facilities for the mild and severely physically and mentally handicapped children and young adults within the South York area. The scope of works consisted of the upgrading of the existing hall area, the refurbishment of classrooms, communal facilities, kitchen and WC’s in addition to a large new build extension. The new-build element linked to the existing building and provided additional classrooms, a purpose-built hydrotherapy unit and external play facilities with soft play surfacing. Structherm composite insulated panels were utilized which enabled a fast track approach to the construction process; thus minimizing disturbance to the school.
