Brewster Bye Architects won a limited competition for the design of the headquarters for Termrim Construction.
The design was developed with the client to ensure it satisfied their particular individual needs. Careful consideration was given to their operations and in the evolution of the design, their total systems and delivery operations were re-evaluated. The final design developed into a new 7,800sqft contemporary office with the option of an additional speculative wing. This would share the service core to be constructed later.
The location of the building on a very visible site in Huddersfield led to the planning department insisting on the use of traditional materials. However, with long negotiations a contemporary building design was agreed. The building developed further during its construction in which economic processes were developed in partnership with the client. It was completed and occupied in 2005.
