Planning submission has been made to provide an Extra Care building in Cleckheaton.
The development is intended to provide 80 number 1 and 2 bedroom Extra Care apartments for the over 55’s. Central communal facilities including a communal lounge, dining room with catering kitchen, activity rooms and a hair salon all look out onto landscaped gardens. The northern half of the site will remain as open natural green space for use by local residents.
The site slopes down to the north with adjacent roads and housing on both sides of the site doing the same. The proposals seeks to create an attractive building that is appropriate to the setting, providing high quality affordable homes for the over 55's which create a strong sense of place. The building mass has been developed in response to its relationship with the neighbouring buildings.
The building has been designed alongside Housing 21 who are a leading not-for-profit provider of Retirement Housing and Extra Care for older people of modest means. Housing 21 operate in nearly 200 local authority areas, managing around 20,000 Retirement and Extra Care Living properties and providing over 42,000 hours of social care each week.
