Mackworth is a £10M Extra Care Scheme located on the outskirts of Derby. It consists of 98 self-contained one- and two-bedroom apartments for older persons, with a mix of rented and shared ownership.
Brewster Bye Architects have been working together with Sanctuary Housing Association since Spring 2008 to develop the scheme. In March 2011 we received planning approval and work began on site the following May. The project is currently on site and is due to be completed by the end of the year.
Providing a safe and stimulating environment that adapts to the changing needs of residents, this extra care complex features a shop, a health suite, gym, restaurant and a hair and beauty salon. This development consists of attractive communal areas both internally and externally with level wheelchair access throughout. It is on target to achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
With only a few months to go until completion this is another fantastic extra care project that Brewster Bye Architects can add to their ever expanding portfolio.
