The Lomonds Shortlisted for RICS Award

Our work with the Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association for The Lomonds in Leeds has been shortlisted for a RICS Residential Award.

Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association acquired the main house in the early 1970s and converted it into four apartments before approaching Brewster Bye Architects two years ago to explore ways of incorporating more homes into the development. The vision for the refurbishment was to create homes that are easily adaptable and suitable for everyone regardless of their life stage or circumstances and this was a key part of the design brief.

Under-occupation and increasing maintenance liabilities inherent in the existing buildings has lead the Housing Association to look into the potential of redeveloping the site. The brief from the HCA (Homes and Communities Agency) and LYHA calls for 15No. residential units to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and Secured By Design certification. This includes 2No. houses built to Lifetime Homes (LTH) requirements in addion to the above design criteria.

RICS will be visiting the site on February 19th in advance of the awards in May.
