Bracken Court is a homeless persons’ hostel development which replaced a DSS Resettlement Unit built in the 1970s. The site provides accommodation in the form of 38 self-contained flats and 3 cluster houses which are located around a landscaped courtyard. Each flat has its own front door, first floor units being reached by external stairs with glazed canopies. A separate block provides core facilities, including a laundry, a small dining area and administration offices. The scheme provides a modern approach to direct access accommodation for homeless single people that treats residents as individuals within a supportive and secure environment.
