The St Mary's scheme in Morley aims to once again create a “place” in the woods with the conversion of the church into a restaurant and a proposed new hotel on the site. The proposed hotel aims to sit within the streetscape likened to a Victorian Terrace. Its main purpose first and foremost is to respect the church and its local surroundings. It has been designed so the eaves heights of local buildings are respected so as not to appear dominant along the streetscape. The gentle curve and splaying form allows the church spire to be seen on approach up Troy Road whilst also reducing the apparent scale of the building to pedestrians.
