The Wallbottle Development Completed

A development of 10 no. dwellings located off Hazel Road in Knottingley has recently been completed by Mansell Construction for Yorkshire Housing.

The scheme consists of a mixture of two and three bedroom homes. Each of the houses utilises the traditional domestic forms of gables and pitched roof which follows the established street scenes to neighbouring residential blocks. The scale and proportion of the dwellings reflect the character of the street scenes with modest eaves and ridge heights with semi-detached dwellings to follow the contours of the site.

The units are designed to have a long life, be durable, low maintenance and energy efficient. The development has achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. This was achieved using a ‘Fabric-first’ solution which enables the residents to get the benefit of lower fuel bills without having to make any lifestyle changes. The ecology of the site has been improved with the landscaping and bird/bat nesting boxes being fitted to the dwellings.

The affordable dwellings are to be rented by Yorkshire Housing based on an assessment of need and demand in the area for this type of housing. All dwellings are Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 and comply with Secure by Design.
