Work is due to complete on a £6m student development in Leeds that is designed by Brewster Bye Architects and will be one of the highest specified student accommodation schemes ever seen in the North of England.
The development, known as Iconinc, is being developed by Parklane Properties and lead contractor Tolent Construction is due to complete work this summer in time for the new academic year.
Iconinc will consist of 131 fully furnished studios and apartments, complete with self-contained kitchens and bathrooms, as well as a wide range of communal areas, 24 hour security and a concierge service. Brewster Bye has designed each living space to incorporate an innovative design style, practical layout, high quality fixtures and various design highlights including ambient lighting, dynamic storage and flatscreen TVs that face both the bedroom and living areas.
Chris Austin of Brewster Bye Architects, says: “From the very outset the brief at Iconinc has focussed on creating a standout development, where students will aspire to live, that exceeds anything else in the market. A huge amount of attention has gone into the detail at this development to create highly functional and contemporary living spaces, complemented by superb communal areas.
“These include a gym, a social lounge where residents can relax or study, a games room with pool tables and consoles, a self-service canteen and a laundrette featuring a unique graphics wall. There’s also an innovative food ordering system that utilises a wall menu and uses the latest technology to enable residents to order meals using their mobile devices and all this will combine to create a superb environment in which to live.”
