2014 has shown itself as the year of awards at BBA! Never did we think we would win 3 awards in the space of 6 weeks, it really is amazing news.
Following on from the success of Greenwich Gardens and HEART, Bolton Road in Bradford received Best Affordable Housing Scheme at the LABC West Yorkshire Awards. In an exciting twist Bolton Road was actually up against another BBA project; Priory Road, which was Highly Commended at the awards ceremony.
Bolton Road is a mixture of 46 semi-detached and terraced dwellings 1 mile north of Bradford city centre. It utilises traditional domestic forms of gables and pitched roofs and is constructed using a mixed pallet of red brick, stone and render. Delivered as a “land inclusive” scheme it delivered a turnkey development to the Client, Home Housing. Site acquisition and planning were funded by the development parties Strategic Team Group and Brewster Bye Architects along with the assistance of Bradford City Council. A superb example of multi-partnership working to deliver affordable housing.
To win 3 awards is a massive achievement but to win them in such a short space of time shows the quality of architecture that we, as a practice, continue to deliver.
