| The mill and outbuildings date from 1846 when they were constructed by Mr. W A F Saunders as a ‘Model Farm’. Having since fallen into disrepair the property was bought in 2008 with the vision of creating a unique equine country estate. Surrounded by rolling countryside the farm sits within 54 acres of land with direct links to extensive bridleways. The farm is grade II listed and consists of the main mill with a ‘U’ of stables and cattle pens built around a central courtyard open to the south. In addition there are three Dutch style hay barns located on land adjacent to the west. The proposals include creating a formal house with a contemporary Orangery with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. Connected to the main house via a glazed link is a new contemporary ‘pavilion’ containing a pool, sauna, hot tub, heat room and solarium. The contemporary organic form of the pavilion has been developed to contrast with the formal layout of the original mill house and stables which provide stabling for seven horses with tack room and storage formed around a lunging yard contained within the stable yard. |
