| This private residence is a Grade II* listed country house located in the heart Lancashire and is on English Heritage 'Buildings at Risk Register'. Having been vacant for decades the estate was recently purchased with the view to returning the house and gardens to its former glory. The present house was constructed in the 1730’s after the original house dating back to the 17th century had been demolished. Built on a terrace overlooking the village the main house is three storeys with an additional two storey service wing to the west. The proposals look to restore the main house retaining all existing features such as the extensive panelling and replacing those that are missing or beyond repair. The service wing, whilst also being restored will however look to incorporate several contemporary elements, sympathetically integrated with the original enabling the history of the house to be read. Through detailed negotiations with English Heritage and the local authority it is the intention that the house once again becomes a primary country residence. |
